Recently, when I was at the New York Yoga Journal
Conference, many people came to ask me, why I began to design this line
of clothing. The answer was often the same: the body wants to breathe.
I wanted clothing that I could wear to a week long meditation retreat, a
yoga class, teacher training or anywhere I was going to be sitting or
moving. I feel that especially during practice time on the mat or
cushion, the body wants to breathe and I wanted to give that to myself.
I simply could not find clothing in my style for my lifestyle. For me,
wearing restricting clothing not only causes a blockage in the flow of
my energy, it is also a distraction. The stomach and heart areas (where
most sport bra or waist bands sit) want to be open and feeling tight
clothing in these areas not only creates an interruption in the flow of
energy throughout the whole body, but in my view, is one more
distraction for the mind. No one needs to be thinking about their
clothing being to tight during their practice, how it fits or what it
reveals or worrying about it revealing what you don't want seen. Moksha
clothing is comfortable, breathable, I can do any pose and feel free to
move as deeply into it as my body wants too, it's liberating!
